Become Part of an Exclusive Network

Please read before proceeding joining AOK.

You have already made the most important decision -- to join AOK! Now you need to know a little more about the structure of AOK and how we work in order to make several decisions on the application form.

AOK is the premier association for individuals engaged in knowledge enterprise throughout the world. Membership is individual, not corporate; therefore your membership is transportable wherever you go. We offer a cafeteria plan designed to fit the professional requirements of our diverse membership. We believe in self-selection; therefore, through a cafeteria of choices you can tailor your membership to fit your needs.

Please read the following descriptions carefully before deciding to join.

  How We Are Organized

The AOK web site is open and membership is not required to access all areas of the site. But membership is required to be part of the active interdisciplinary AOK Knowledge Community (K-Net). This community is composed of knowledge work learners, professionals and thought leaders from more than 100 countries.

  Choosing Services

The major deliverables of AOK are:

Online: The AOK web site. It is an open site and membership is not required.

Member Network: Membership is required to receive and participate in the following:

  • Discussions
  • The STAR Series (temporarily suspended)
  • Individual Networking*

* While we protect individual confidentiality, AOK facilitates direct contact by permission only. We think of it as "matchmaking."

Through a moderated group listserv, our members are interactively connected with the world's leading thinkers and practitioners in both corporate and personal knowledge management.

These services are provided through a closed and moderated Yahoo list. You may choose to the Daily Discussion Group either by individual email or daily digest and/or you may access them at your convenience at Yahoo.com.

Remember: If you opt for the Email Network, you will receive one (and occasionally two) emails per day.

In the application form, you may indicate that you do not want to receive the emails and would prefer to read Discussions online. In that case, you will need to register with Yahoo.com to access Discussions which will also enable you to respond while the discussion is active.

We encourage you to select e-mail delivery because the Discussion Group is AOK's most important interactive deliverable. However, we respect the limits of your time. If you choose to receive this service via e-mail, you can opt out later if you must. And, once you have registered at Yahoo.com, you can reset your preferences on your listserv account at any time. If you choose not to receive some of them by e-mail, you will receive instructions on accessing them online.
